Week 6

Instructional Design?
You might not know what it is.
Trust me, I do too. It is my first time knowing this term. But actually I had used it for many times before during my school year. It usually can be seen at the back of your text books. The CD-ROM itself is the instructional design where you are required to read through the text book in order to play the activity in the CD-ROM.

An instructional design is a systematic methodology (rooted in instructional theories and models) to design and develop content, experiences, and other solutions to support the acquisition of new knowledge or skills. It is design according to the level of the targeted audience where it delivers knowledge through activities or notes. Designing an interesting exercises or activities can help the learners gain knowledge where they might find it easier to remember.

To create such interactive medium, it requires a team of content creator, software designer and graphic designer. An instructional deisgn usually rely on the model ADDIE, which an acronym for analysis, design, development, implementation and evaluation. There are other models as well, such as:
  • Assure
  • Gagne's nine events
  • Dick and Carey
  • Guaranteed learning
  • Rapid prototyping
  • ARCS model
Here is the Gagne's Nine Events info graphic that me and my partner did.
